We came across this sign at a beach park the other day, and just had to share our thoughts. We just thought this was a rather refreshing sign (excuse the bad pun, but it works here.) In all the years we’ve spent exploring the islands we’ve never seen a sign like this, and we had to re-read it a few times just be be sure we didn’t get too much sun, or have too many mai tais, or a possible combination of the two, which could be conspiring for us to read only what we wished for. Even after re-reading, we had to take a picture and read it again. There is no typo here. We are used to reading signs, we all are. Usually they say things like, no trespassing, or no dogs allowed, no ATV’s, no alcohol, no talking above 13 decibels unless you are standing on your head while juggling oranges. You get the picture. To find a sign that doesn’t tell you what NOT to do is rare. It gives some guidelines, and for us, they seem reasonable. Just to clarify, we would NEVER encourage alcohol consumption and water sports. We have been known to have a mai tai or two before snorkeling, but we’re professionals, and were lucky to make it out alive, so don’t try this yourself. You can however, enjoy adult beverages here and talk story from your beach chair…but only between the hours of 10.a.m. and 10 p.m.
