From the immaculate, garden-like grounds (complete with birds and koi) to the smashing pool area, this place works. The overall feel is calming. They have tons of artwork strewn around the resort. There is an unbelievable circular pool with a bridge to the center island and spas along one edge. What strikes us as most impressive about the hotel is the service. They obviously take great pains to provide whatever the guest wants and employees seem to show a lot of aloha spirit here. The rooms feature modern furnishings with a good use of warm colors and the rooms are immaculately maintained.
They organize many activities, such as scuba diving in their pool, beach massages and private poolside dinners. They have many cultural programs on site and tons of activities (some free others for a small fee).
Royal Sonesta Kaua‘i Resort is fairly close to the airport, so you will hear some noise, but it’s not bad—probably because the pool area is filled with the white noise of falling water. You can reserve for an extra fee the poolside casabella chairs, cocoons (covered daybeds) in center of the pool are cool, and a cabana at the beach. At least they added more umbrellas by the pool that provide great shade for free.
Royal Sonesta Kaua‘i Resort devoted 232 of their rooms to timeshares. The hotel-type rooms are only in the Ha‘upu building or the two upper floors of the Kahili building, so if you want to directly face the ocean, you will want the Kahili building. A convenient parking lot sits behind the Ha‘upu building if you are self-parking.
Rooms are 332–520 sq. ft., suites are 1,000–2,114 sq. ft. Lots of packages available.
